About New Orleans Square

New Orleans Square is very important to the history of Walt Disney. Sadly, the grand opening of this land on July 24, 1966 was his last major Disney appearance before his death. New Orleans Square is one of the more popular lands as it showcases the overly popular Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, which was the inspiration for the Pirates of the Caribbean movie series. The overall look of this land is based on how New Orleans looked in the 19th century.
